An independent review of Ballarat Grammar, an elite private school in regional Victoria, has uncovered a culture of 'normalised' racism, bullying and abuse, according to a report published on July 23, 2026.
The review, commissioned by the school's board, detailed systemic issues that have persisted for years, with staff and students reporting incidents of racial slurs, physical intimidation, and emotional abuse. The findings highlight a failure of leadership to address these behaviors.
The school's principal has issued a statement acknowledging the report and committing to implement all 27 recommendations, including mandatory cultural sensitivity training and a new anonymous reporting system. The Victorian Department of Education has also been notified.
