Caltrans has allocated $1.2 million for a feasibility study to explore the construction of a new train station in south Napa, according to a July 2026 announcement. The study will assess potential locations, ridership projections, and environmental impacts.
The funding comes from the California Transportation Commission's Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program. Local officials, including Napa County Supervisor Alfredo Pedroza, have advocated for the station to improve access to the Capitol Corridor rail service, which connects the Bay Area to Sacramento.
If approved, the station could serve commuters and tourists, reducing traffic congestion on Highway 29. The study is expected to take 12 to 18 months, with public input sessions planned.
