Flash floods have struck parts of Chanthaburi province in eastern Thailand, affecting homes and tourist resorts, as the Thai Meteorological Department warns of continued heavy rainfall through the weekend. The floods, triggered by persistent monsoon rains, have inundated low-lying areas, particularly in the districts of Mueang and Tha Mai.
Local officials reported that water levels in some areas reached up to 50 centimeters, forcing residents to move belongings to higher ground. Emergency response teams have been deployed to assist affected communities and monitor the situation. No casualties have been reported as of July 29, 2026.
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rain in the eastern region, including Chanthaburi, until July 31. Residents and tourists are advised to stay alert and avoid traveling through flooded areas. The department also warned of possible flash floods and landslides in hilly areas.
