Pianist Igor Levit returned to Tel Aviv for his first full recital since the war began on October 7, 2023. The performance took place on July 17, 2026, at the Charles Bronfman Auditorium, as confirmed by the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra.
Levit, a German-born pianist of Russian-Jewish descent, spoke about his solidarity with Israel and the importance of fighting antisemitism. In a statement released before the concert, he said, 'Music is a bridge, but it cannot ignore reality. I stand with Israel and against all forms of hatred.'
The recital included works by Beethoven and Schubert, and was attended by an audience of about 2,000 people. The event was organized in collaboration with the Israeli Ministry of Culture and Sport, which provided security due to ongoing tensions.
This marks Levit's first performance in Israel since the October 7 attacks, which led to the cancellation of several cultural events. The concert was widely covered by Israeli media, including Haaretz and The Jerusalem Post.
