South Africa international and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams has died at the age of 25, just weeks after representing his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The cause of his death has not been confirmed.
South Africaβs Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, expressed condolences on social media, saying: 'We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jayden Adams, a talented young footballer who brought pride to our nation.'
Adams made his senior debut for South Africa in 2023 and was part of the squad that competed in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He played in two group-stage matches before South Africa was eliminated.
Mamelodi Sundowns released a statement saying: 'We are devastated by the loss of our beloved player. Jayden was a dedicated professional and a wonderful person. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.'
