Morocco women's national team coach Jorge Vilda stated that the selection of the squad for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) was the result of careful monitoring of players throughout the season. He made the remarks during a press conference at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmoura.
Vilda explained that the technical staff considered the level of performance of the players with their clubs and the national team, as well as their playing time. The coach emphasized that the final list was based on objective criteria and continuous evaluation.
Morocco is preparing to host the WAFCON tournament, which is scheduled to take place from July 5 to 26, 2024, in Morocco. The Atlas Lionesses aim to defend their title after winning the 2022 edition.
