Beldine Odemba, head coach of the Kenya women's national football team, has declared that her squad is prepared for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The tournament is scheduled to be hosted by Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2026.
Speaking to the press, Odemba stated, 'We are ready.' She emphasized the team's rigorous preparation and determination to perform well in the competition. Kenya qualified for the tournament after a successful qualifying campaign.
The 2026 WAFCON will feature 12 teams, including defending champions Nigeria and hosts Morocco. Kenya has been drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania. The team will open their campaign against Tanzania on July 6, 2026.
Odemba, who took over the team in 2024, has focused on building a young and dynamic squad. She expressed confidence in her players' ability to compete at the highest level and advance beyond the group stage for the first time in the nation's history.
