Meta on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, launched a new line of smart glasses priced lower than its existing Ray-Ban-branded models, as competition in the AI-powered wearable tech space heats up. The glasses are produced in partnership with eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica, according to a company announcement.
The new glasses, called Meta View, start at $199, compared to the $299 starting price of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. They feature a built-in camera, speakers, and a voice assistant powered by Meta's AI, but lack the display found in some competitors' products. The lower price point aims to attract a broader consumer base.
Meta's move comes as rivals like Google, Apple, and Snap accelerate their own smart glasses efforts. Google recently previewed its Gemini-powered glasses, while Apple is reportedly working on a lower-cost version of its Vision Pro headset. The market for AI wearables is projected to grow significantly, with IDC forecasting 15 million units shipped in 2026.
The Meta View glasses will be available starting July 15, 2026, in select markets including the US, UK, and Australia. They come in three colors and offer prescription lens options. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the glasses are "a step toward making AI assistants always available."
