Morocco has announced a significant investment of 2.81 billion dirhams (approximately $280 million) to upgrade the Fez sports complex as part of preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
The project, confirmed by the Moroccan government, aims to bring the complex up to international standards, including expanding seating capacity, improving facilities, and enhancing infrastructure. The Fez complex is one of several venues being renovated across the country for the tournament.
According to official statements, the upgrade will also benefit local sports development, providing modern amenities for athletes and fans. The work is expected to be completed well before the World Cup begins.
This investment underscores Morocco's commitment to hosting a successful event and boosting its sports infrastructure. The 2030 World Cup will mark the first time the tournament is held in three countries across two continents.
