Morocco's cinema sector continued its upward trajectory in 2025, recording 2.19 million admissions and 129.78 million MAD in revenue, according to the Centre Cinématographique Marocain (CCM). This marks the fifth consecutive year of growth, following 663,000 admissions in 2021, 1.48 million in 2022, 1.72 million in 2023, and 2.18 million in 2024.
The CCM's latest report highlights a steady recovery and expansion of the industry post-pandemic, driven by a mix of local and international film releases. The 2025 figures represent a slight increase from 2024, with admissions up by approximately 10,000 and revenue rising from 128.5 million MAD in 2024 to 129.78 million MAD.
Industry analysts attribute the growth to improved cinema infrastructure, including new multiplexes in major cities like Casablanca and Rabat, as well as a diverse film lineup that attracted audiences. The CCM noted that Moroccan films accounted for a significant share of admissions, though specific titles were not detailed.
Despite the positive trend, the sector still faces challenges, including competition from streaming platforms and piracy. However, the CCM's data suggests that cinema-going remains a popular leisure activity in Morocco, with potential for further growth if investment in theaters and content continues.
