Mohamed Ouahbi, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), used a press conference to address speculation about the future of assistant coach João Sacramento. Ouahbi firmly denied rumors that Sacramento would leave his role with the Atlas Lions following the team's performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“When there is a defeat or a difficult moment, rumors start,” Ouahbi said, according to reports from the press conference. He emphasized that Sacramento remains an integral part of the coaching staff and that the federation has full confidence in him.
The denial comes after Morocco's campaign in the 2026 World Cup, which was co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Atlas Lions exited the tournament in the group stage, failing to replicate their historic semifinal run in 2022.
João Sacramento, a Portuguese assistant coach, joined the Moroccan national team staff under head coach Walid Regragui. His future had been questioned in local media following the early World Cup exit, but Ouahbi's statement aims to put those rumors to rest.
