According to data from Spain's Customs and Excise Department, Morocco consolidated its position as the leading non-European Union supplier of fresh fruits and vegetables to the Spanish market during the first four months of 2026. Spanish imports of these products from non-EU countries increased by 12% year-on-year, reaching 1.2 million tons.
Morocco accounted for 45% of these imports, totaling 540,000 tons, a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The main products exported were tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and strawberries.
This growth is attributed to competitive prices and logistical proximity, as well as increased demand from Spanish consumers. The trend highlights Morocco's strategic role in Spain's fresh produce supply chain.
