RB Leipzig have confirmed the signing of French centre-back Maxime Estève from Burnley, as announced on the club's official website on July 18, 2026. The 22-year-old defender joins the Bundesliga side on a permanent deal, having spent the previous season on loan at the club.
Estève, who came through the youth academy at Montpellier, initially moved to Burnley in 2023. After a loan spell at Leipzig during the 2025-26 season, the club has exercised an option to make the transfer permanent. The exact fee and contract length have not been disclosed.
Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder praised Estève's development, stating, 'Maxime has adapted well to our system and shown his quality. We are pleased to secure him long-term.' Estève made 18 appearances for Leipzig last season, contributing to their top-four finish in the Bundesliga.
