At the Africa Economic Symposium, Morocco's Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, emphasized that Africa has the human and natural resources to accelerate its development but must strengthen trust in its own capacities, invest sustainably in infrastructure, and ensure policy continuity. He made these remarks during a panel discussion on the continent's economic future.
Mezzour highlighted that Africa's young population and abundant resources are key assets, but unlocking their potential requires consistent policies and a focus on value-added industries. He cited Morocco's experience in automotive and aerospace manufacturing as examples of successful industrial policy.
The symposium, held in Marrakech, brought together policymakers, business leaders, and economists to discuss strategies for inclusive growth. Mezzour's call for trust aligns with broader efforts to boost intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
