During a press visit to the Lycée Lamine Guèye in Dakar, a training center for cadet and junior national teams, the president of the Senegalese Judo Federation (FSJDA), Ababacar Ngom, outlined his roadmap for the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games (YOG). Ngom emphasized the goal of building a solid legacy for the sport in Senegal.
The federation's strategy focuses on developing young talent and improving infrastructure to ensure that the YOG leaves a lasting impact on judo in the country. Ngom highlighted the importance of preparing athletes not only for the Games but also for future international competitions.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts by the Senegalese government and the International Olympic Committee to use the YOG as a catalyst for sports development in Africa. The 2026 Dakar YOG will be the first Olympic event held on the African continent.
