Three Congolese women referees, including Rachel Zihindula, have been selected to officiate at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The tournament is scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2026.
The selected referees are Rachel Zihindula, along with two other Congolese officials whose names have not been publicly confirmed by CAF as of July 11, 2026. This marks a significant milestone for women's football officiating in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
CAF announced the list of match officials for the tournament earlier this month, which includes referees and assistant referees from across the continent. The selection process was based on performance in previous competitions and fitness tests.
The 2026 WAFCON will feature 12 teams competing for the African women's football championship. Morocco is hosting the tournament for the second consecutive edition, having also hosted in 2022.
