Ander Herrera has completed a free transfer to Athletic Bilbao, marking an emotional return to the club where he began his professional career. The 34-year-old Spanish midfielder left Paris Saint-Germain after his contract expired, and has signed a one-year deal with an option for an additional season.
Herrera originally came through Athletic Bilbao's youth academy and made his first-team debut in 2010. He spent four seasons at the Basque club before moving to Manchester United in 2014. After three years at Old Trafford, he joined PSG in 2019, where he won multiple domestic titles.
During his previous stint at Athletic Bilbao, Herrera made 128 appearances and scored 11 goals. His return is seen as a boost for the team's midfield experience as they prepare for the upcoming La Liga season.
