Swiss building materials giant Holcim has completed the acquisition of Fermacell, a German manufacturer of drywall and flooring systems, according to a company announcement. The deal, which was first announced in early 2025, strengthens Holcim's position in the building envelope and interior fit-out markets.
Fermacell, based in Duisburg, Germany, is known for its gypsum fiber boards and screed systems used in residential and commercial construction. The company operates several production sites across Europe and employs around 1,000 people.
Holcim said the acquisition will allow it to offer a broader range of sustainable building solutions, aligning with its strategy to grow in the building products sector. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The integration of Fermacell into Holcim's Solutions & Products division is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Holcim's CEO, Miljan Gutovic, stated that the acquisition supports the company's goal to become a leader in innovative and low-carbon construction.
