KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 β Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has applied for an Interpol Red Notice to locate and bring back activist Tamim Dahri to face proceedings at the Langkawi Magistrate's Court.
Tamim Dahri, a human rights activist, failed to appear at a scheduled court hearing, prompting the police to seek international assistance. The Home Minister stated that the application for the Red Notice has been submitted to Interpol, and authorities are awaiting approval.
The case is believed to be related to previous legal matters involving Dahri, though specific charges have not been publicly detailed. The Langkawi Magistrate's Court had issued a warrant for his arrest after he missed the court date.
An Interpol Red Notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action. It is not an international arrest warrant but a tool to facilitate cooperation among member countries.
